22 August 2013. Save Our Swan press release in reaction to late receipt of EI's notice of disposal for The White Swan
"We were shocked to learn the day before yesterday (20 August 2013) that, on 8 August - the day before they withdrew the Planning Applications -, Enterprise Inns had formally notified Scarborough Borough Council of their 'wish to make a relevant disposal' of the White Swan (a legal requirement under the Localism Act 2011, in other words 'to sell the buildings and car park').
This means that we only have until 18 September to submit a 'non binding Expression of Interest' to bid for the property. We are 'pulling out all the stops' to be able to do this within the timescale and are taking advice on how best this can be achieved."

20th August 2013. Enterprise Inns have given their 'notice of disposal' to Scarborough BC. As The White Swan is now an Asset of Community Value (ACV) this means interested parties have 6 weeks - until 16 September - to declare an intention to bid, or not. Thereafter, they will have until February to get a bid together.

7th August 2013. Text of the Save Our Swan Facebook Event Page re the Scarborough BC Planning Meeting (Thursday 15th August) & our hope for a good turnout from the village. Also includes details of FREE transport laid on.
Calling on all those who value The White Swan, its history/heritage to the village of Hunmanby and its future potential.
To show the depth of our collective feeling we would like to encourage everyone who can possibly attend to be present at the Scarborough BC Planning Meeting on Thursday 15th August 1pm.
Transport: Local businessman Mr. Howard Midgley has most generously sponsored free return transport from Hunmanby to Scarborough Town Hall.
The coach is booked - 48 seater outside The White Swan at 11.45 on 15 August. please let us know you are coming by any of the following methods:

Scarborough BC have announced the actual committee date for White Swan redevelopment plans(13/00210/LB & 13/00209/FL) as Thursday 15 Aug 2013
There will be a public meeting Monday 5th August 7.30pm. Details below:
Dear supporter
As
you will be aware if you have seen the Hunmanby & Filey
Mercury pages of this week's edition of the Scarborough News or been
following the Save Our Swan campaign on Facebook, it is looking
increasingly likely that the Swan Planning Applications will be
discussed at the August meeting of the Scarborough Borough
Council Planning Committee. At this stage we cannot be completely sure
because the agenda won't be published until a few days before the
meeting, leaving us with little time to make arrangements so that as
many people who want to be at the Town Hall for the meeting can get
there.
With this in mind, we will be holding a public meeting in the Swan function room, at 7.30pm on Monday 5 August
2013. Everyone is welcome to attend and it will be an
opportunity to bring you up to date with the campaign so far, to answer
any questions and plan for the meeting in the Town Hall.
We
will also be able to fill you in with more details on the brilliant
news that Scarborough Borough Council has agreed to list the White Swan
as an Asset of Community Value, recognising the important social and
economic role the Swan has played in the past and can continue to play
in the future for the community of Hunmanby.
Please
put the 5 August in your diary and tell your friends about the meeting -
posters advertising the event will be going up shortly.

21st July 2013. Mini update from Save Our Swan Vice-Chair
Dear Supporter
Following what has felt like months of relative inactivity, things are suddenly on the move again. The architect for Enterprise Inns has submitted further revised plans and anyone who has put in an objection previously will have received a letter inviting you to comment again if you wish before the planning officer produces her report.
Members of the Save Our Swan Action Group have compiled a detailed letter of objection to the plans which will be available to view on the Scarborough Borough Council Planning Portal (13/00209/FL and/or 13/00210/LB) at some point next week.
We have been led to believe that the planning applications will be discussed at the Planning Committee Meeting to be held at 1.00pm on Thursday 15 August 2013 at the Town Hall and we would like to encourage everyone who can attend to be there to demonstrate the depth of feeling about the plans. Unfortunately, we will not know for certain if the 15 August is the date until a week beforehand, when the Agenda is finalised.
We will keep you informed of details about the planning meeting as they become available, and about plans for coordinating transport.

Scarborough Borough Council have informed Save Our Swan that The White Swan will NOT be discussed at the 11th July planning meeting. The next possibility is Thursday 15th August.

Members of the Save Our Swan working group met this week and very good progress continues to be made with the campaign to fight Enterprise Inn's Planning Application to redevelop the White Swan Public House in Hunmanby.
The expression of interest leaflet drop has taken place and has had a very encouraging response so far. It is not too late for persons with an interest in being part of this project, and who might wish to invest in the scheme, to return their "interest forms". Expression of interest leaflets are still available from the White Swan and an on line version of the leaflet can also be found at http://saveourswan.yolasite.com/expression-of-interest.php .
Scarborough Borough Council's latest Planning Meeting's schedule has been released on line this week and the application from Enterprise Inns to redevelop the White Swan is not listed for this month so it is presumed that it will be heard at either the June (13th) or July (11th) meetings.
As a result of this, the deadline for submitting the Expression of Interest leaflets has been extended until the beginning of June for any ‘late comers’ wishing to invest in the project. Completed leaflets can be returned to the White Swan.

confirmed) to discuss with Matthew Joseph from Scarborough BC & 2 people from Seachange the capacity/capability needs for our application for a pre-feasibility
grant. Will keep you up to date on this.

NOT YET CONFIRMED.... but the Scarborough Borough Council planning meeting regarding the applications to develop The White Swan into housing could well take place Thursday 16th May. We hope for a good turn out at this meeting from all those who have The White Swan at heart. We need to show everybody concerned the strength of our feelings. MUCH MORE on this once we have a concrete time and date.
The next meeting of the Action Group is pencilled in for 7.30pm Wednesday 8th May at The White Swan. There will also be an informal meeting to discuss a specific issue on Wednesday 17th April 7.30pm.
